Closed name
AlphaBay is a closed market name. Public reporting ties the label to a large English-language marketplace and to a coordinated seizure announced in July 2017. The founder died in custody in Thailand. The case is history.

Justice-department statements and news investigations from 2017 describe the takedown, the scale investigators claimed, and the arrest abroad. Those documents are the cite, not forum memory.
AlphaBay is often taught next to Silk Road as the second name a general reader recognizes. The operations were years apart.
Explainers, documentaries, and old forum archives keep the word in circulation. Search engines surface it because people still type it. Tor Wiki gives that query a page that says closed, with the date of the seizure story, and then stops.
A new site using the old name is a new claim. This entry does not bless it.
No address, no mirror, no catalog. The logo of a successor is not the AlphaBay case.
Read Hydra for a later, different-language takedown, and the seven current labels for names this desk treats as separate open questions.
